Cathedral or fingertip? Mantilla or a simple drop veil? Veils are bought online, sight unseen, and the length that looks dreamy on a model can swallow a petite bride. Upload one photo, add any veil, and Agalaz shows it on YOU in about 30 seconds.

How to choose a wedding veil

Start from the dress, not the veil. A plain crepe or satin dress can carry a lace-edged or embroidered veil; a heavily beaded dress usually wants a sheer cut-edge veil so the two do not fight. Then pick length by venue: chapel and cathedral lengths shine in long aisles and churches, fingertip and elbow lengths move better at a beach, a garden or a courthouse. Finally, check where it sits — a veil anchored at the crown reads formal, tucked under a low bun it reads romantic.

How to get it right

  • Match the veil edge to the dress: lace with lace, a clean cut edge with a busy dress.
  • Choose length by venue and by how much you will move and dance.
  • Decide comb placement with your hairstyle — crown, under the bun or at the back.
  • Check the white: ivory, diamond white and pure white look very different next to your dress.
What works

Wedding Veil: the styles worth trying

1

Cathedral veil (~108-120")

The most dramatic option: trails well behind you. Best for churches, long aisles and ball gowns.

2

Chapel veil (~90")

Just grazes the floor and trails slightly — formal without the logistics of a cathedral length.

3

Fingertip veil (~36-40")

The best-selling length: ends at the fingertips, flatters almost every dress and body.

4

Mantilla

Circular Spanish veil edged in lace, worn on top of the head or further back. Timeless with sleek hair.

5

Birdcage veil

A short netted veil over the eyes. Vintage, playful and perfect for short dresses and civil weddings.

6

Two-tier with blusher

A short front layer over the face for the walk, lifted at the ceremony. Very traditional.

Avoid this

Wedding Veil: common mistakes

Picking length from a model photo

A cathedral veil on a 5'10" model is a different veil on a 5'2" bride. Try it on your own height.

Competing details

Beaded dress + beaded veil = visual noise. Let one of them be the star.

Wrong white

A pure white veil next to an ivory dress makes the dress look yellow.
