• Gel polish base color (white, black or chrome-specific dark base) • Chrome powder ($8-15 per pot) • Small eyeshadow-shaped applicator (the soft sponge) • No-wipe top coat (crucial — wipe top coat dulls the chrome) • UV/LED lamp
1. Apply gel polish base color. Cure under lamp.
2. Apply a thin layer of no-wipe top coat. Cure for HALF the normal time so it stays tacky.
3. Lightly dip the applicator in chrome powder. Rub onto the nail in small circles. The powder transforms when it touches the tacky layer — keep rubbing until it goes mirror-smooth.
4. Brush off excess powder with a clean fluffy brush.
5. Seal with no-wipe top coat. Cure full time.
• Cure the top coat fully before applying chrome = powder won't adhere • Use wipe-off top coat as sealer = dulls the chrome immediately • Apply chrome too thick = grainy finish • Skip cuticle prep = chrome lifts in 3 days
